The MFG is a small NGO with a three-decade history of working with the Malagasy government and  local communities to conserve Madagascar’s biodiversity.  The MFG’s in-country headquarters is located in Tamatave and our work is primarily carried out at two locations: 1) Parc Ivoloina a 282 ha former forestry station located 14km north of Tamatave which has been transformed into a conservation education, training and research center and 2) Betampona Natural Reserve, a 2,228 ha lowland rainforest patch 40 km northeast of Tamatave that is restricted to researchers who have received a government permit.

The MFG team consists of 51 staff members, all Malagasy except for the Program and Research Directors. Conservation is a highly multidisciplinary field and, being a non-profit organization, the MFG does not have the resources for a staff within which the wide range of skills are all represented. Consequently volunteers with needed skills, time and enthusiasm can provide a great service to the MFG.  If you have the relevant skills for the MFG’s current needs and are interested in having a unique experience, in a beautiful environment, as part of a team engaged in a range of diverse activities, you may want to consider the volunteer opportunities described below. Volunteers will be based at Ivoloina.
